Walks and places to visit;

Starting at the lodge there is a fantastic walk up to Weets Hill. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, and one of the Pendle Three Peaks, it is 1,310 feet tall and takes an average of 1.5 to 2 hours to complete directly from the lodge. From the summit there is a fine panoramic view west to Pendle Hill, north to the Bowland Fells and east to the Yorkshire dales. If you strain your eyes you may just be able to pick out the limestone escarpment at Malham Cove. The descent back down towards the lodge is a delight with the reservoir and surrounding areas set out in the foreground.

You could complete all three in a weekend, the famous Pendle Hill, Boulsworth Hill and Weets Hill.

For gentler strolls, the Leeds and Liverpool Canal is a short walk away and offers towpath walks out to Salterforth and Foulridge in one direction and East Marton and Gargrave in the other.

The nearby town of Barnoldswick boasts a library, medical centre, pharmacies, sports centre and swimming pool, plus several gyms, community centres, live music venues, parks and supermarkets in town. A wealth of independent shops, cafes and bars brim with friendly faces around the Town Square and its surrounding historic streets. This is a place that still boasts friendly butchers, greengrocers and bakers - plus a visiting fishmonger - amongst the parades of small shops and its town centre square.

Wycoller Country Park is one of the prettiest country parks in Lancashire. The area is famous for its association with the Brontë sisters who referred to many of the nearby landmarks in books such as Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre. The exclusion of cars from the village and the attractive appearance of the many preserved old buildings creates a unique feeling of tranquillity which is rarely experienced today.

The charming market town of Skipton is approximately a 20 minute drive, with a famous 900 year old castle, romantic ruined priory and historic cobbled High Street, an abundance of shops, pubs, bars and restaurants.

Set in the glorious Ribble Valley, Clitheroe is a regional market town catering for everyone and also approximately a 20 minute drive from the lodge. From shopping to entertainment, family days out to spectacular nightlife, Clitheroe always has something to offer. Clitheroe town centre is proud to specialise in the unique hard gift ideas, not usually easy to find on the high street, making Clitheroe a shopping haven.
