ABOUT | Whitemoor Lodge

Whitemoor Estate is near to the villages of Salterforth and Foulridge and consists of over 800 acres of moorland, woodland and grassland. We have grouse, pheasant, partridge and duck along with a 40 acre private reservoir 'Whitemoor Reservoir' of which the owners own the sporting and fishing rights.

The lodge was originally built for the previous owners love of fishing yet the current owners have extensively refurbished the lodge to transform it into a cosy one bed haven. Fishing on the reservoir is included within the cost of your stay.

The lodge sits within a private sheltered area in the grounds of Whitemoor Estate and the owners house and the location offers peace, tranquility and panoramic views whilst retaining easy access to local pubs and restaurants only a 5-10 minute drive away. Whitemoor Estate is a working estate with surrounding working farmland. There may at times be ongoing maintenance works within the grounds but this will not impact upon on your stay at the lodge as it remains completely private and secluded.

The reservoir on which the lodge sits is home to brown, blue and rainbow trout. The banks and fields surrounding the reservoir are totally private with no public footpaths. The reservoir feeds the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and therefore the reservoir levels can sometimes be quite low in the summer months. The open views are spectacular and wildlife is actively encouraged and the only people you are likely to see are the owners walking the dog.

Keen birdwatchers will enjoy spotting a range of birds including curlews, great crested grebe, goldfinch, kestrel, sparrow hawk and more.

There are good transport connections, being only 1 mile from the A56 and 3.5 miles from the M65. Mainline trains are only 35 miles to the west at Preston, which via the West Coast mainline has regular services to London, some in under 2.5 hours. Similarly Skipton, 11 miles to the east, has regular connections to Leeds and the East Coast mainline.

Leeds Bradford Airport is 30 miles to the east. Racing is available at Haydock Park, Wetherby, York, Ripon, and Aintree all within under 1.5 hours’ drive. Golf courses are located at Colne, Barnoldswick and Skipton, all under 20 minutes’ drive.
